Posted: 07 Mar 2013 12:00 AM PST At the Anvil Pub in Dallas, you can find cocktail scientists hard at work developing the most extreme Bloody Marys ever imagined. They've previously turned that classic drink into a light meal. Now they've pushed even further, turning the bloody mary into a full meal that includes a (yummy!) crawfish. Link -via Foodiggity |

The World's Greatest Spin Kick Posted: 06 Mar 2013 09:00 PM PST This, apparently, is a scene from the 2003 movie Ong-Bak: Muay Thai Warrior. Is there a reason why the hero's legs are on fire? Is there a plot? Should we care? No. A movie that includes this scene and 89 minutes of a blank screen is worth watching. |

Please Explain This Chicken Man Posted: 06 Mar 2013 05:00 PM PST
I found this vintage photo of Chicken man in Miss Cellania's always awesome blog (you guys should visit), and I demand explanation! Who's first? |
Posted: 06 Mar 2013 04:00 PM PST Tyler will be 65 later this month. That's an age when most people are gray-haired or overweight, or both. Still, this Tweet from Chase Mitchell was irresistible for a Twaggie, illustrated by Josh from Formal Sweatpants. See new illustrated Tweets regularly at Twaggies. Link |

Posted: 06 Mar 2013 02:00 PM PST San Francisco artist Klari Reis is creating a new artwork inside a petri dish every day in 2013. The project is called The Daily Dish, not to be confused with political commentator Andrew Sullivan's blog of the same name. Reis hand paints the insides of plastic petri dishes, each completely different. The paintings are an attempt to “explore our complex relationship with today’s biotechnological industry.” Can she do it every day? She already did one every day in 2009, so expect success with this year's series! Link -via Colossal |

Posted: 06 Mar 2013 01:30 PM PST The 1953 dystopian novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is about a future American society where books are banned and burned (by firemen who start fires, rather than put them out). The title refers to the temperature at which the author believes paper auto ignites. Fast forward to 2013, where art director and graphic designer Elizabeth Perez created this conceptual work, Fahrenheit 451 match book. Link - via NerdCore |

Posted: 06 Mar 2013 12:30 PM PST Pixar artist Josh Cooley, who made the awesome Inappropriate Golden Book artwork we featured on Neatorama a few years ago, created this little gem of a cartoon that you just have to see. It's about a lonely unicorn who decided to end it all, only to find the love of his life. And when he thought things were turning around ... well, you'll see. Meet the Loneliest Unicorn: But it doesn't end there ... Now aren't you curious to see how this story ends? Check out the rest over at Josh's blog post. You'd love the ending: Link |
28 TV Shows Canceled After 1 Episode Posted: 06 Mar 2013 12:00 PM PST If a TV show is so bad that it is cancelled after one episode, you have to wonder how it ever got that far. Here's a sampling:

Built of Books by Frank Halmans Posted: 06 Mar 2013 11:30 AM PST Dutch artist Frank Halmans, who created "houses" out of functional vacuum cleaners we've featured before on Neatorama, has another neat art project. Posted: 06 Mar 2013 11:00 AM PST This is what might happen when you have a birthday party in winter. Freezing rain covered the balloons, then they deflated somewhat in the cold. The ice remains as evidence of the original balloon size. Someone needs to do this on purpose, with thicker ice, and make transparent snowmen out of the resulting balls! Link |

Posted: 06 Mar 2013 09:30 AM PST Mad World was one of my favorite songs. It was great as originally sung by Tears for Fears So. How do you improve a song that's already great to begin with? Posted: 06 Mar 2013 08:00 AM PST Well, now I can't unsee it. Whenever I pass by Lord Vader in the hallway, I'll be tempted to crack open his helmet and make a Hawaiian salad. Ludo, a French street artist, composed this image in Paris. |
Posted: 06 Mar 2013 07:30 AM PST A horse's normal lifespan is around 25-30 years, but Old Billy was an outlier. In fact, when Old Billy died at age 62, he became the longest-living horse ever known.
When Old Billy finally bought the farm, so to speak, some of his remains were preserved. In fact, his head is in two places: the skin was mounted on a taxidermy head, and his skull was displayed separately. Part of Billy is now in Manchester, the other in Bedford. Read more about the horse at Atlas Obscura. Link |
